The Magic of Thinking Big

by Eva Angelina
Everything begins with a thought. I am a big believer in thinking BIG. Why NOT? I have a burning desire to accomplish big things in my life. As such, I teach and coach my students and clients to do the same. I teach them to think BIG. There have been many times in my life that I have seen or heard of stories of men and women doing the unthinkable. Rising up to the challenge and doing things that were thought of as “impossible”. They reached high levels of success and great wealth despite of their challenges. This has always inspired me. I hope it also inspires you.
A few years ago , when taking a business course in college, I read a book titled, The Magic of Thinking Big, by David Schwartz. This book inspired me a great deal. I still review many portions of it today. It is very uplifting. It teaches you to set high goals and then exceed them. It also helps you discover the secrets of how the mind works and how it can best work for you. It goes over how you can reach success by the power of the mind and your thoughts.
I want to share one of the many ideas shared in this book. As I share with many of the clients I coach, in order to think big you need to develop BELIEF. You must have belief in yourself and belief in your goals and dreams. Belief is imperative for success. One of my favorite quotes by Henry Ford says it best, “If you think you can do a thing or think you can’t do a thing, you’re right.”
Here are some things that Schwartz shares in regards to developing powerful beliefs:
Think of success, not failure
Your thoughts are very powerful. So make sure you are thinking success all the time. At work, at home, make sure you substitute success thinking for any failure thinking you might have. Know that you will win, not lose. Have a WIN, WIN MENTALLY in all that you do. Let this dominate your thoughts. It takes practice, but when done long enough it will become second nature and come naturally. Remember that thoughts become things. So keep you mind thinking positive things. Think success conditions and your mind will create plans to produce success. If you think of failing you will produce that result. Always think success.
Remind yourself daily that you are better than you think you are
Successful people are not know it alls or super people with foreign capabilities. They are not supermen or have a super intellect. Also, keep in mind that success is not based on luck or on something mystical or far from reach. Successful people are just ordinary people who have learned and developed belief in themselves and in what they do. They have a burning desire to follow their goals and dreams and believe they can make them happen. There will be times you may be discouraged, but also remind yourself you are better than you think you are. Never sell yourself short.
Believe BIG
Your success will be determined by how big you think. The size of your success is determined by the size of your belief. If you think little goals and expect little achievements, then that is exactly what you will get. Think big goals and achieve big success. Set high goals for yourself and change them accordingly if needed. Set the bar high.
Lastly, I want to encourage you never to settle for less than what you deserve. NEVER Settle for anything in life. Think Big and make it happen. All is in your hands. TAKE CONTROL. Stop making excuses. Schwartz calls this excusitis, a mind-deading thought disease. Many people suffer from this disease, way too many in my opinion. These people have no plans in their life and find a book of reasons of why they cannot be successful.
Why settle for a bad relationship? A job you hate or dislike? Financial struggle? You do not have to settle in life. Think Big!
Wishing you much success on your journey,
Eva Angelina

The Invincible You: Lesson 1: The Key To Riches: The Art of Reversal

By Alexander Avila

Many times we get stuck in life. We want something really badly, but we don't get it. In these especially difficult financial times, money is a big issue for a lot of people. No matter how much we make, it seems that we just don't have enough to go around. In these challenging times, we need to develop the powerful mentality I call "The Invincible You."
The Invincible You is that part of your mind that is invincible--incapable of being defeated--by either outer circumstances or your own inner negativity. Psychologists call this resilience--the ability to overcome adversity--religious people call it soul hardiness; I call it The Invincible You. To be Invincible doesn't mean that you're perfect; it just means that you are able to go beyond, around, and through obstacles to achieve your dreams because you believe you are a special divine creature who is worthy of the best the world has to offer.
In this series, which we will continue into 2012, I will reveal some of the most powerful psychological and spiritual secrets of emotional and psychological invincibility. These are time-tested paradigm shifts and psychological algorithms that will help you skyrocket your personal mastery and outer success.
The first secret is called the Art of Reversal--Give What You Want Most to Get What You Most Need. In other words, if you want something really bad, give that something out to others and to the world.
Take the desire for money; for financial success and security. You want to make a large amount of money doing something you love, but maybe you haven't been able to do it. You struggle financially, or at least you're not making what you really want to make. You try to save, but the money slips through your fingers like you're trying to hold on to water poured from a bucket. You may even start to panic a little, or get desperate, as you sink further into debt.
Solution: The Art of Reversal. Instead of worrying so much about how much money you don't have, focus on giving more money, time, energy, and talent to others, and to the world. Give more money to charity, donate more money or personal possessions to your local church; give your time and energy by volunteering at an organization that helps women, children, and animals; help your neighbor with a small loan. The amount of money or time you give doesn't matter; it can be small at first. The key is to start reversing your mindset of money anxiety and lack, and turn it into a mindset of money abundance. Imagine that you have so much money, and the world has so much money (the world money supply is calculated at $50 trillion), that you can afford to give away plenty because you will get back plenty.
In Eastern philosophy, there is an energy called Ki or Chi. Ki is the life force that we all have. Ki either expands or contracts; it gets bigger or smaller. When you're worried about money; not being able to pay your bills, or not making it in your career, you start to contract or shrink your positive energy. You become fearful, anxious, worried, and worst of all, you generate that ultimate defeating feeling of being deprived.
On the other hand, when you expand your Ki energy, when you give freely, and with gratitude, to others, you self-generate a light, free, and loving feeling. This positive feeling will, in turn, attract more abundance and prosperity into your life.
You have probably heard of the law of attraction, which states that we attract what we think about most. If we think of abundance; we attract abundance; if we think if scarcity, we attract scarcity. This is a common aspect of nature and life. However, to trigger the law of attraction, you first need to master The Art of Reversal. To attract more money, you need to start by giving away some of your most valuable personal resources--time, money, and energy--with the firm belief that there is a natural abundance in the world that will return to you manyfold, in the form of more money, talents, valuable relationships, and career-enhancing opportunities.
Start today by giving a few extra dollars to children or homeless people. Give away some old clothes and possessions to the Salvation Army. Remember to give away what you want most. If money is what you want, give it away. This will create an Invincible mindset in you that will help liberate your unstoppable enthusiasm, energy, creativity, and resourcefulness. You can now go out into the world and create financial and emotional abundance for yourself and those you love.

Latino Wine Makers Make Most Wanted Wines!

VINO:
Many of the Latino Owned Wineries Started with words similar to this quote from Isy Borjon, Borjon Winery. Simply put, “I think it’s the same in any industry. Every employee is always looking up ‘the ladder’. Dreaming of what it would be like to be at the top. My father knew that it wouldn’t be easy but he was determined and had that ‘drive’… So, my parents worked hard, saved as much money as they could and began a small labor contracting company that, in 18 years, expanded to a size they never imagined. The company is still in business, Bigger than ever and now owned and operated by me. Growing up around all the vineyards and wineries in the area, I began to have my own dream. Knowing that it also was a dream that my father had, probably added to my drive, of owning my own winery. Now married to my beautiful wife, Eliana, we put everything we could into creating a more secure future for us and our family.”

Others started their wineries by working in “regular jobs,” much like Angela and Mark Garcia who own both a bail bond business and are licensed bounty hunters and who used this income to manifest their own wine labels under… “ Most Wanted Wine Co.” “It’s a big investment that takes time and patience, but we are doing this for our children too and this will be the first generation that will be able to have the education we feel is necessary to continue and build what we’ve started, there are many aspects of owning even a small vineyard.”

The vineyard is their escape, but it is more than that, it’s a way of life that ran deep in Marks heritage. As a kid Mark found himself sleeping under the grape vines but didn’t have then the same passion he has now that his own vines are flourishing. Today you’ll find Mark’s father and others who were also raised in “the vines” working in their vineyard at harvest time and celebrating the land, which is producing a product that they control from start to finish. The fruit is handpicked, taken to a facility in Santa Rosa and there the magic in the bottle is created and shared with their guests at the tasting room. “We want our wines to be enjoyed after they take it home and we believe that having a wonderful experience at the tasting room is the beginning – the sign outside our door says it all, “You come as guests and leave as friend"

A day at the office...By Alain Romero

Today I'm working on a project that I'm sure you'll find interesting so I decided to share it...

It's the financing of 4 very unique buildings that together are known as the Artisian Lofts...

This building houses major artists and as you can imagine its very unique.  You probably would never think there is much going on in this building.  In fact you'd probably have a hard time finding the entrance.

The challenge with this project is that it houses unconventional tenants that work in unconventional trades.

My job along with a team of experts is to bring viability, so the lender can more easily see the attributes rather than the risks.

If you have any questions on how to get into commercial real estate call me!

Digital Networking

                                                                               By Karla Vadillo

Please watch this, then continue reading:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIFYPQjYhv8

This video, is all about social networking revolution.

How did we get there?

Took a webinar last night and it was an eye oponer. The organizer told us that networking –regarding professional life- has different rules for women. She also mentioned that men are decades ahead of us since we are experts in doing this for our husbands -those who are married or have been- but not for us, due to: childcare, different activities, schedules and so on.

I am pretty sure a lot of people reading this will disagree with her and other, agree. Depending on their personal experience, they will see this as suitable or not.

Would add another factor, when in some cultures, you are looking to network and are professional in this process but relate with someone that is not used to it, gets confused or pretends to and thinks you want a relationship or a date. It has happened to a few of people I know and it turns out to be embarrassing, uncomfortable and/or quite awkward so she –Lumi VelĂĄzquez from TecnolĂłgico de Monterrey- gave some pointers to be able to network or mentor with very good results:

• Create strong bonds among persons with experience that are generous with orienting others and helping them develop/grow.

• Create strong bonds with people who make careers or companies more easygoing.

• Create strong bonds that make visible the work and career of others.

• Create strong bonds that help achieve satisfaction at work.

She also adviced to:

* Be visible, transparent, congruent, authentic, generous, assertive and credible

* Tell the truth

* Be respectful

* Be trustworthy

* Avoid aggression

* Understand the cybernetic language

* Be patient

The objective of networking -for Lumi- is to establish long term relationships that really form a synergy (two or more forces produce a positive effect). To be successful when networking, we need to have a good attitude and give effective help. It also helps to network without always pursuing a particular interest: do it with true generosity.

Networks include:

+ women or men in your family
+ your family
+ your work colleagues and so on

When you are having in mind achieving something, is when you need to know exactly what know who to contact.

Regarding networking digitally, I have also attended webinars given by Joseph Katz. He has an internet radio show and is also good with this subject. Besides, he will enrich the point of view that I received from Lumi and shared it with you.

Here are some links to read about him and even contact him:

Regarding how SOL and myself network...promise to get something ready soon and post it. In the meantime, hope you enjoyed reading this and that it was enlightening or at least, helpful.

Book recommendations

                                                                                                                      By: Karla Vadillo

Reading is a must for all of us, either we decide to use it in the traditional way (book) or Nook, ipad, laptop or iphone; it is a fulfilling form of learning. Reading opens our eyes and minds to new points of views, philosophies and cultures. Today, I want to recommend you the following:

The New Gold Standard: the 5 Principles for Creating a Legendary Customer Experience Courtesy of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company

Written by Joseph A. Michelli this author had the gold opportunity to an all access pass, so to speak to The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company on all levels and in several countries. You will have the opportunity of an in depth approach to the company, the way they work, think, evaluate, benchmark, among some aspects covered by it. It also includes examples of the concepts reviewed. The former General Manager of the property in CancĂșn, Hermann Elger was interviewed for this book and is now General Manager at the Montage Beverly Hills.

Kiss Theory Good Bye

Written by Bob Prosen, this book offers –in a different light- 5 ways to get extraordinary results in any company. Best of all, points out that we need to avoid witch hunting (seeking culprits) because the only guilty party is bad administration. Breaks down the concepts shown in a digestible way and grounds them so we are able to get a clear idea of what Mr. Prosen is getting to with the content of his book. The book has received some awards such as the Best Books Award Winner by USA Books News, Book of the Year Award by Foreward´s Magazine and The Independent Publisher Book Award.

The Soul of a Chef: the Journey Toward Perfection

Michael Ruhlman registered for the Certified Master Chef exam just to travel into the heart of the Chef profession. What is really good and traps you into this novel are the colleages of Ruhlman, also taking the exam: Thomas Keller (The French Laundry, Bouchon), Bryan Polcyn (Five Lakes Grill) and Michael Symon (Lola Bistro and Wine Bar). Even if your business or career is not related to the food industry, this book is indeed an excellent journey into perfection, quality, nerves of steel and excellence. If you are thinking about or studying to become a Chef, this book is a must-read.
