Harry Potter 7 Graphic Art Gallery

                                                                                            By Karla Vadillo

It is always a pleasure to write or post something about this movie since the set of novels written by JK Rowling turned a whole generation back to reading books intensly. Therefore, a lot of us will remain grateful for this to the author and all the amazing team behind her.

Here are the collection of posters that accompany the release of this new installment, that starts its worldwide exhibition this November. Courtesy of Warner Bros. Pictures.

Guillermo Bert B i o g r a p h y

Guillermo Bert's work has been exhibited and collected by numerous museums in the United States and South America. He has won multiple prizes, government grants and commissions and has created numerous public art murals and permanent installations.

Mr. Bert has recently had a number of important exhibitions at the Museum of Latin American Art (MoLAA) in Long Beach (solo exhibition), the Fowler Museum at UCLA in Los Angeles, the San Diego Museum of Art in San Diego, the Architectural Design Museum in Los Angeles and the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles.

This past year he had solo exhibitions at Gallery 415 in San Francisco, the Fremont Gallery in South Pasadena and Peter Blake Gallery in Laguna Beach.

These recent exhibitions have been reviewed in a number of art magazines and newspapers such as Art Ltd. (Jan '09), THE Magazine (Sep '09), Long Beach Magazine (June '09), Al Limite Magazine (Nov. '09), Long Beach Telegraph (May '09), and "Art for Obama," Abrams Books, 2009.

Mr. Bert has been developing his series called "BAR-CODE / Branding America," which is based on the Universal Bar-Code symbols. This series reflects the current political climate and his perspective on the consumerism that permeates the core of American society.

Bert is also currently working on a series of textile pieces where indigenous stories from the Americas will be encrypted on bar-codes and then woven by various native artists from the same communities using their traditional loom techniques. These works will all have correlating documentary video components and are to be exhibited at the Pasadena Museum of California Art in 2012.

“When Can I Wear My High Heels Again?"

“When Can I Wear My High Heels Again?"

While being in private practice for over ten years as a podiatrist, I have seen all types of shoes on all types of feet! One of the questions that comes up all the time is “when can I wear my heels again?” So I’ve been thinking about all the different shoe questions that my patients ask me, and I’m going to answer them here…one at a time! If you have a shoe question, please feel free to ask away.
So back to the same old question “when can I wear my heels again?” Ladies, as a shoe lover myself, I feel your pain. I know how many of you want to wear those beautiful pumps, stilettos, high heeled boots, and strappy sandals. I know because, as a foot doctor, I hear it all day long! But…I am sorry to say, it’s not a simple answer. It all depends. It depends on your foot problem, it depends on your shoe, and it depends on how long you wear the shoe. Let’s look at each one of these a little more closely.
Your foot problem: Why aren’t you wearing the heels in the first place? Are you in pain? Where is your foot pain? Is your pain in the ball of the foot, the arch, the heel, or the ankle? What is your diagnosis? What treatments have you already had? All of these questions have to be considered. Someone with metatarsalgia (pain in the ball area of the foot) will get a much different answer than someone with plantar fasciitis (pain in the heel). Patients with metatarsalgia will usually experience more pain if heels are worn, while some patients with plantar fasciitis feel some relief with a very small heel (very small, about 1-2 inches).

Your shoe: How high are your heels? How narrow is the toe box (the front of the shoe)? Are you wearing the right shoe size? It is amazing how many women squeeze into shoes that are too small! It’s silly really, ladies. Nobody cares what size shoe we wear except ourselves! Are your shoes open toe or closed toe? It may make a difference! Do you need orthotics, and can you wear them with your shoes? Yes, you can wear them with many women’s dress shoes, even heels, but you will probably need a special type of orthotics made specifically for your heels.

How long do you wear the shoe: When it comes to high heels, it’s all about balance. Don’t try to wear 5 inch heels for an eight hour shift at work, especially if you work standing up! For a seated job, knock yourself out! If you work a long shift sitting down at a desk, you can handle the heels for a much longer time than someone who works on their feet!
As stated previously, it’s not a simple answer. It varies greatly. And it’s really case-by-case. But I hope that answers some of your shoe questions! :)

Beauty and The Beast Available for the First Time on Blu-ray™ & DVD Combo Pack on October 5Th

This story is one of my favorites…perhaps my favorite and the most requested Disney film. The story is set in and around a quaint French village during the late 18th century. The Beauty and the Beast follows the fantastic adventures of Belle, an intelligent and beautiful young woman who loves reading. She finds escape from her ordinary life and the advances of a boring and mean suitor (Gaston) through the books she reads.

While her life passes by, in a castle in the distance, a cruel young prince is cast under the spell of an enchantress who turns him into a tormented beast, while transforming his servants into animated household objects. In order to remove the curse, the Beast must discover a true love who will return his affection before the last petal falls from an enchanted rose.

One afternoon, Belle´s beloved father gets lost, finds himself trapped in this castle and is taken prisoner. She will have to go rescue her dad and The Beast releases him in exchange of her promising to stay inside. She does and the magic begins. With the kind and generous help of the enchanted staff, she sees beneath the Beast´s exterior and the heart and soul of a human prince is revealed to her.

As a personal anecdote, the first time I visited The Ritz Carlton, Cancún, I felt inside this story. Even the one of the bellboys reminded me of Dong and the doorman reminded me of Lumiére back then. So if you happen to enjoy or like me, are fond of Beauty and The Beast I totally recommend that you visit this property and become charmed with its magic.

Beauty and The Beast had a sing a long premier at El Capitan Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard on October 2nd to commemorate the relase of this Diamond Edition. Now, you are able to have your own copy of this edition available in Blu Ray and DVD combo pack starting yesterday.
